  • Ass Pull: An almost literal example of Deus ex Machina: Juri has sent everyone home, at the cost of being forced to spend the rest of her life trapped in Stasis. As she nearly goes insane and becomes a Herald on account of the realization that she's the only person in this dimension with no way to leave it, the "God" of Stasis shows up out of nowhere and sends her home.
  • Awesome Music: "Flashback", courtesy of Miyavi.
  • Designated Hero: Juri cares a lot about her family, but often this manifests as a remarkable Lack of Empathy for anyone outside of it, including refusing to even accept good things former bad guys do for her because they opposed her family in the past, not acknowledging her part in Shoko's past and problems, and hunting down Sagawa even after he has no reason to oppose them anymore, attempting to flat-out kill him when he's no longer and trying to talk it out with them, and then actually doing it (if not for him reincarnating).
  • Les Yay: Shoko wants Juri to retrieve her family's corpses, but that isn't revealed for several episodes. So her demand that Juri be caught alive, the ending theme's focus on the two of them together (set to lyrics about falling in love, no less!), and their Forgotten First Meeting all seem pretty romantic.
  • Nightmare Fuel: The Heralds. While they're not inherently evil (in fact, they're meant to be the guardians of the Stalled), their appearance, the methods by which they do their jobs and the means by which they are created are enough to give some nightmares.
    • Being pursued by henchmen of the Genuine Love Society may also be quite disturbing as most of them are hired thugs that show a serious case of Lack of Empathy.
  • The Scrappy: Takafumi, whose delusions of grandeur tends to grate the viewers time and time again whenever he shows up. That he is the resident Butt-Monkey ease it up somewhat alongside with him not being a complete scumbag when driven in a corner as well.
  • Signature Scene: While the anime itself got a mixed reception, the opening credits, set to Miyavi's "Flashback," have been praised by some as the best thing about the show.
  • Strawman Has a Point: Takafumi is generally made out to be a bumbling, whiny idiot who should butt out of serious matters whenever he speaks up. That said, he brings up some very valid points. His father not telling the family about the secrets of the Stones ended up putting them in danger, and their plan to fight a Cult with more members than them, who are very willing to kill them, to get Tsubasa and Makoto back is beyond reckless.
  • They Wasted a Perfectly Good Character: Some feel this way towards Tsubasa. He's an irresponsible shut-in who was set up to not only be an important character, but get some good Character Development too. However, he's expelled out of Stasis earlier on.
