• Jerkass Woobie: The owner's husband comes off as aggressive and confrontational with the manager (to the point of almost starting a fistfight on camera), but it is revealed that not only is he paying his own bills, but he is putting money into the restaurant to keep it from failing and even paying the manager's bills because of the manager's incompetence.
• Nausea Fuel: The restaurant had one of the worst maintained kitchens, complete with cockroaches and a walk-in fridge loaded with old refried beans sitting in buckets with the consistency of wet cement. Gordon went ballistic over this discovery and put it on full display to the diners that night to show them the quality of what they were eating. Unsurprisingly, everybody left after getting a good look at where their refried beans had come from.
