• Tear Jerker:
  • Belle telling the Beast about her assault is heartbreaking. She is clearly trying to sound strong and detached, and to an extent she might be as she describes disassociating during the attack, but it’s clearly affecting her more than she lets on. She was even crying immediately prior.
  • The reveal that Maurice spent several months in the asylum, tortured and starving while he kept insisting Belle was trapped and needed his help.
  • The Beast’s death; already a canon example but far amplified here, with the Beast openly calling himself the baby’s father, alternating between pleading for Belle to go inside so she can give birth and asking her to name the baby Arthur, Belle revealing she’s known about the spell for months, and finally the Beast dying as he struggles to say “I love you.”
• The Woobie: Belle and the Beast have both been put through the wringer, before and during the fic. It's difficult to not feel bad for them, especially Belle.
  • Iron Woobie: Despite the crime committed against her, Belle resolves to stay strong and not let it define her, or her child.
