- Anti-Climax Boss:
- Bugzzy is one of those bosses you may very well beat without putting too much effort into it. The AI tries to pull off huge Awesome, but Impractical chains but this is easy to counter by using Boring, but Practical fast chains to foil their plans, causing them to waste more time trying to build another chain ad infinitum.
- King Dedede is supposedly the ultimate challenge in story mode, but plays mostly like Meta Knight by pulling off quick chains to keep pressure on, the main difference being that his blobs cause his side of the screen to quake. If you're well practiced dueling Meta Knight, this level shouldn't be a problem either. Granted, if you give him the chance to get some chains going, you'll be in trouble.
- Awesome Music: The original remixes made for this game aren't too bad and are pretty good recreations of existing Kirby tracks with the Super Puyo Puyo soundfont. Special mention though goes to the upbeat remix of Butter Building
in course 1. - Hilarious in Hindsight: In Kirby's introduction against Poppy Brother Sr., he taunts him about how he'll "breathe in [his] pathetic bombs and send them right back at [him]".
- Memetic Mutation: BRONTO BURT!explanation
- Older Than They Think: Several of the characters' current-day designs — such as for King Dedede, Kracko and Meta Knight — actually make their debut here, a year prior to Kirby Super Star.
