YMMV / Kingsley's Adventure

Go To

  • Awesome Music: Alastair Lindsay composed the soundtrack, themed accordingly with each world. The introductory ditty is particularly epic.
  • Breather Level: The Catacombs in the Abbey is the shortest dungeon in the game. While Clarence Darklord Jr. can be difficult, the rest of the Catacombs can take less time to complete than Captain Gallagher's hideout at Lighthouse Point.
  • Camera Screw: While you can change how you look at things with the L1 button, you can't use the right analog stick to move the camera to see everything around, which can make the game more annoying than it already is.
  • Demonic Spiders: The archer mice in Reggie's Castle, who love to perch on far away ledges and take potshots at you in the middle of jumping puzzles.
  • Game-Breaker: The crossbow can be extremely useful in many places, since enemies can't defend against it and arrow pickups respawn endlessly. This basically allows you to clear monsters away from across a gap while they can do nothing but watch you pelt them. Unsurprisingly, most bosses are immune to this.
  • Narm Charm: Even outside the Furry Fandom demographic, the game is charming and fun enough to be considered something of a cult classic.
  • Popular with Furries: It's usually talked about by those in the Furry Fandom since it's a video game that features a fox as the protagonist and it's a World of Funny Animals.
  • Surprise Difficulty: While most of the game isn't all that hard, the Castle Ruins, the second last level, is far harder than anything else up to that point. Some will argue that it's even harder than the final level and boss.
  • That One Boss: Reggie. Teleport Spam meets hard-to-dodge area spells, and he can't be hurt with the crossbow either.
    • Rex, the first boss accessed through True Knight armor and the true boss of the Sea Town area. On the floor, he's not so difficult and follows the usual pattern, but on the pedestals he can summon lightning clouds that follow you around and green homing bolts that are nearly impossible to avoid, and it doesn't take many hits to take you down. The ground sections are basically a race to get him down to his final third before you run out of health so he can't cast magic anymore.
  • That One Level: Reggie's castle is the longest and most hated dungeon in the game. Other than the fact that it's much larger than the other dungeons, it has seemingly unending Platform Hell, in addition to archers who are a real pain in the butt to kill, especially when there's more than one.
