• Audience-Alienating Premise:
  • The fusion of two very, very different works might be a turnoff to some.

• Genius Bonus:
  • When Ayaka goes to sleep the night after her Reawakening, she dreams of typhoons raining snakes.^note Iowa was caught in Typhoon Cobra.
  • In Chapter 13, Russian Air Force CAPT Gryzlov makes a joke about abyssals needing to make sandwiches that scares Essex and Iowa.^note Where do you make a sandwich? In a Kitchen.
  • Also in that chapter, when Uatu One-Three talks about whores and starting to charge, Yorktown reprimands her not to insinuate that she intends to violate FM 27-1 chapter 10, which has to do with prohibition against moonlighting.
  • Shizuka Minami's callsign is "Hummer". "Shizuka" is Japanese for "quiet", and the character of that name hums a lot.
  • Why is Yamashiro unwilling to turn right to JR Yokosuka Station on exiting FLEACT Yokosuka? A memorial to her is in that direction.
  • The summoning ritual in Chapter 22 is an American militarisation of the Shinto procedure for visiting a shrine, with the cast Purple Heart in place of the coin offering, salutes instead of bowing, clapping of a sword's pommel instead of hands and summoning speech instead of the prayer.
  • In Chapter 26, Ayaka sees Missouri eyeing members of the wedding guestlist in a way that makes her hear Hall & Oates or Nelly Furtado in her head. As in, she's a Maneater.
  • In Chapter 31, Bismarck says "Man, Perl One," Perl One being Hood's callsign. "Perlman" is also the surname for the voice actor of another person named Hood.
  • Richelieu's callsign, Luçon One, comes from the bishopric her namesake headed.
  • Missouri's callsign, Comber One, comes from her first commanding officer, William McCombe Callaghan.
  • What's so significant about "AV-1, Test/30, 82-1066"? It's the number of the B-2 bomber "Spirit of America".
• Harsher in Hindsight:
  • Or Energy is called as such because it is the gold from Heaven, contrasting with Argent Energy being the silver from Hell. Come Doom Eternal's release, it turns out that "Heaven" in the Doomverse... isn't.
  • In March 2019, cut content for Chapters 19 and 20 was released, and one of the scenes included was that of Akagi using Judgment Cut End. Come April 2021, Judgment Cut End gets used for real... by Northampton.
• Hilarious in Hindsight:
  • As noted in Chapter Two Word of God, Mitsuha and Itomori's Alternate Selves being Ayaka and Imamura was decided in December 2016. Months later, KanColle released I-13 and I-14, whose voice actress was... Ayaka Imamura. Also, the two subs in question use the Goroawase Number nicknames of Hitomi and Iyo. Here, Sayaka and Hitoha's Alternate Selves are named Hitomi and Ichiyo.
  • To Azur Lane:
    • This fic allows shipgirls to employ More Dakka inspired by Bullet Hell from Furi, with the first onscreen depiction released in May 2017. At the end of the month, the original Chinese version of Azur Lane went out of beta and into public release, and its main distinguishing factor from KanColle is the use of Shoot 'Em Up gameplay mechanics.
    • While still on the topic of AL, in Chapter 17, Ayaka wonders if the Japanese do modular upgrades of their shipgirls rather than everything in one go. AL's retrofit mechanics ended up requiring you to upgrade each aspect of a shipgirl individually.
    • A threefer for AL: This fic deviates from most KC fic by bringing the magic aspects of shipgirls to the fore with spellcasting that comes in a wide variety of flavours, including things that wouldn't be out of place in magical girl or superhero works, though it isn't the first KC fic to go down this route ^note Ambience: A Fleet Symphony at least in the latter third of its currently released chapters, would depict shipgirls with a bit of a magical streak in addition to their tech abilities, which would also not be out of place in magical girl or superhero works.. When the AL anime came out, it had its shipgirls doing fantastic things of their own like Kaga summoning a giant fox or Enterprise riding planes.
    • Charybdis calls her class a bunch of Grangerfaces because of her sister Hermione. AL's Hermione came out inexplicably without a single reference to Mr Potter and friends.
  • This fic, with its American setting, was already in existence long before it was announced that J. J. Abrams would be helming an American Live-Action Adaptation.
  • In March 2019, cut content for Chapters 19 and 20 was released, and one of the scenes included was that of Akagi using Judgment Cut End. Roughly 2 months later, Akagi Kai Ni Bo was released in the game, and it has Akagi with a katana.
  • Ayaka went to Japan to study her Shinto graduate course in 2019. Some time after this was first mentioned, in October 2019, one of the fic's authors actually went to Japan on vacation, during which he did a Shinkai filmography pilgrimage.
  • KanColle's Saratoga is the Team Mom of a unit that includes Atlanta, here the Warship Girls version. Come the Autumn 2019 event, years after their first appearance here, KanColle gets Atlanta of its own... Who looks like she could be Sara's actual daughter.
