YMMV / Kenny Starfighter

The Show:

  • Aluminum Christmas Trees: In this series, chocolate soda by the brand Zingo can be used as fuel. While the brand was much better known in Sweden for its orange soda when the series was released, they had previously tried to sell chocolate soda between 1973 and 1977.
  • Awesome Music: The intro theme sounds like something right out of John Williams' library and pefectly captures the sense of pulpy action and adventure that the show strives for.
  • Big-Lipped Alligator Moment: In the final episode when Kenny and Sophia is approaching Dr Deo through the sewer, the German-teacher suddenly pops up and bites Kenny in the arm. Then Sophia speaks German to him which makes him perform a dance while walking away from them. Then Kenny's arm somehow heals itself in less than a second without a mark. How did the teacher show up? Why did he stop attacking and make a dance just by being spoken to in German? And how did Sophia know this would work? How did Kenny's arm suddenly heal as if nothing happened? There are so many questions about this scene and none of them are answered later on.
  • Catharsis Factor: Admit it, after spending the whole show acting as a Shallow Love Interest for Markus by not only berating him several times but even sell him out to Dr. Deo's minions for mere pocket change, seeing Jaqueline get punched in the face by Sofia in the final episode is extremely satisfying.
  • Ensemble Dark Horse: EVERYBODY who watches the show agrees that Thomas di Leva's highly melodramatic performance as the school's music teacher is one of the show's highlights.
  • Squick: The 1997 show was considered a great deal "edgier" than other kids' programs in Sweden at the time due to just how flat-out gross it could be, mostly thanks to the biology teacher's antics. Such as...
    • The flayed, rotten cow head seen during a biology lesson.
    • Markus accidentally kissing a cow lung drenched in blood when he's daydreaming about Jaqueline.
    • The biology teacher's homesewn hat made out of rat skin.
    • Numerous incidents involving eyeballs, such as the school assignment to dissect cow eyes and the Mähälium victims melting into piles of slime leaving only their eye globes behind
