YMMV / Jurassic Park: Survival

Go To

  • Fridge Sadness: After the Velociraptor from the freezer got freed, she may have tried to find her packmates only to find what's left of them mere yards away in the Lobby...
  • Friendly Fandoms: With the fan game Jurassic Park Operations, now named Cretaceous Kingdom. While there is a Fandom Rivalry due to Universal forcing Cretaceous Kingdoms team to remove all references to Jurassic Park from their game (likely in preparation for the reveal of Survival at the game awards), many fans like both games and hope that both succeed. It helps they Universal was very respectful to Kingdoms creators and that the lead developer for Kingdom, Krenautican, has expressed support for Survival.
  • Memetic Mutation: After the announcement trailer, fans have noted with some amusement that our protagonist Dr. Maya Joshi bears a fairly uncanny resemblance to the Lebanese-American media personality and former camgirl Mia Khalifa.
  • Nightmare Fuel: Like the franchise, the game is loaded with stuff that will terrify you.
    • The premise: It seemed like everyone had left and evacuated the island, but the playable character, Maya, is still on there and she's all alone on an island filled with many predatory dinosaurs. It also makes you wonder what happened that lead to her being left there.
    • Remember that raptor that got trapped in the freezer? Well, the end of the trailer shows the door opening and it will most likely be stalking you throughout the game.
  • Shocking Moments: The mere announcement of this game was one, as a Jurassic Park horror game had been desired for years, but never materialized, and Universal had sent a cease and desist order to fans trying to make one of their own. No one thought that this was because they had a horror game of their own that was set for a 2024 release.
  • Spiritual Adaptation: A few fans took note the similarities the game has with Jurassic Park: Trespasser, a game that also involves a woman trapped on a dinosaur-infested island.
  • Spiritual Successor:
    • Some people have compared the premise of this game being similar to Alien: Isolation, which has a lot of similar themes and tropes. Both games have female playable characters and can explore familiar locations taken from the original setting, with a strong emphasis on stealth over combat against invincible foes that can kill you in one blow if you attempt the latter.
    • Also to Oakwood which for years was called "Jurassic Park as a horror game" on various YouTube videos, and which clearly takes inspiration from the franchise.
    • In addition, the plot has similarities to Jurassic Park: The Game as both deal with employees of the park being stuck on the island shortly after the events of the first film, and struggling to survive against the dinosaurs.
