YMMV / Juan dela Cruz

Go To

  • Broken Aesop:
    • One arc features Juan learning that aswangs were not so different to humans apart from their diet. Aswang children and women generally don't participate in the human-Aswang conflict and each have their own hopes and dreams. They see the Anak ng Dilim, which is also Juan, as their hero that would end their hiding from mainstream human society like how the humans highly regard the Tagabantay as their guardian against aswangs. This dilemma is never addressed again and Juan kills off majority if not all the aswangs in the final battle.
    • Father Cito is aware of Juan's dark heritage and had a dilemma whether to kill Juan as a baby comparing the situation to the classic dilemma of whether its ethical to travel back in time to kill Hitler as a baby being aware of the Holocaust. This Aesop is potentially broken by The Reveal that the Anak ng Dilim is a separate personality within Juan and not a shadow of Juan in a Jungian sense that he must overcome but not kill off.
  • Ensemble Dark Horse: Samuel for his later role involving Juan
