• Awesome Art: The hand-drawn art is commonly praised for its stunning detail and fluid animation. It lends the game's environments a breathtaking◊ intensity◊.
• Genius Bonus: Players will get the most out of the game if they know a lot about Norse Mythology. Much of the most impressive imagery in the game is unexplained.
• Enjoy the Story, Skip the Game: The game is generally praised for its narration and visual style, being considered a great trek through Norse mythology. The gameplay on the other hand, while not considered bad, is nothing to write home about.
• Funny Moments: Isa's face upon getting stunned is a thing to behold.
• Fridge Brilliance: Why doesn't Fe use her shield to block? Because you're too tiny for it to work properly! Even if she did ram it into the ground, you would still be fast enough to get around it!
• Nightmare Fuel: Jormungandr's Lake. The first thing you'll notice is that this level has intense and suspenseful music compared to most of the other levels, where the music tends to be laid-back and atmospheric. As you engage the surface of the frozen lake, you'll start to see a massive sinuous shadow slithering just below the surface, bigger than any of the bosses, let alone anything that exists on Earth. And then you see it again. It has glowing eyes and a set of teeth that would make a Megalodon blush. It's rising out of the depths with alarming speed and it's coming right at you.
• That One Boss: While he overlaps with Best Boss Ever to some extent, the fire giant Kaunan can be obnoxious as he fills the floor with burning cracks that greatly reduce the space to stand. These burning patches do major damage, and several of his moves and even his stun animation can knock Thora into them, potentually leading to a quick death with little chance to avoid it. Furthermore the rest of his moveset is far from weak, and his fast movement makes it hard to get charged attacks off on him, leading to the much weaker basic attacks and extending the fight.
