• Alternative Character Interpretation: Did Chase broke up with Emma because she assume about his sexuality or he broke up with her because she's digging into his future for college?
  • Is Shane is a real friend to Chase or Shane is using Chase to be his friend for popularity, it explains taking a spot for the basketball scholarship and tries stealing his ex-girlfriend, Emma.
• Cliché Storm: It's about an unpopular kid who struggles in his home life and his sexuality, he gets picked on by some jocks at school and he has a crush on the most popular guy in school, ever since freshmen year. Both of the boys are struggling with their sexuality and wants to attend their senior prom together before graduation high school.
• Jerkass Woobie: Georgina is not the nicest character of the series, but her home life had really affect her and her personality is why she's like that, so you can't help but feel bad for her.
• Les Yay: Come to think of it, Rebecca seem to be attracted to her best friend Emma. So, most of the fans would either ship Rebecca and Emma because they seem to be infatuated with each other and wanted them to become more than friends.
• Take That, Scrappy!: Shane is a a spoiled brat and antagonist who was hated of the series, him getting expelled from Greenview High for bullying and unable to graduate would make the readers happy. So, he deserved it.
• Unintentionally Sympathetic: Emma. Although she was Chase's girlfriend and was all over him all the time, which was the fans think it's not fair for Chase and Tommy. But after her breakup with Chase, she goes through a lot, she's not perfect at all and before that, she really did love Chase.. Also, the way she was compared to her best friend Rebecca, because she's blonde, had a lot of guys paying attention when Emma hasn't and feels very insecure. So, you can feel bad for her for what she's going through.
• The Woobie:
  • Tommy is fully this. He's been bullied for being bay in school by his mean-spirited classmates, his father died, his mother had barley paid attention to him because of her drinking problem and was humiliated by everyone at Chase's pool party. He also works as a pool boy for living, so you could give him a big hug and he's been through so much.
  • Chase, Oh Chase. He's may be a popular guy at school, but in the inside, he's really a insecure guy who is scared to come out bisexual to school and has some homophobes on the basketball team. Plus, his dad hasn't been around that much, his friend, Andrew was controlling, pressuring and taking advantage of him, not only that, he's jealous of him. Plus, he was so scared to tell his girlfriend that he's bi and is afraid of hurting her. He's actually Lonely Rich Kid anyways, and it's very hard for him.
  • Emma. She's not clingy or either an obsessive or a bad girlfriend. She really does love Chase and is afraid of losing him, and had never boyfriend in her life. She didn't get too much male attention like her blonde friend Rebecca and feels so compared by her. She's going through WAY much, after chase broke up with her, she has to have an abortion, experience anxiety attacks, having flashbacks for being nearly raped by Andrew and trying so hard to be loved. So yeah, again you could feel bad for her.
