• Awesome Music: The opening theme of the classic series.
  • Also the opening theme of "Die neue Dimension". Even those who despise that series consider its opening theme the only good thing to come out of the series.
• Base-Breaking Character: General Forbett and his paranoid, overly militaristic attitude is loved by many who see this attitude as hilarious but also disliked by others who see it as annoying.
• Contested Sequel:
  • Jan Tenner: Die neue Dimension is fairly unpopular with fans. Even the official Jan Tenner website doesn't acknowledge it. Reasons for this are mostly the writing as many fans feel the characters were written too flat and never contributed anything. They also didn't like that most characters were no longer on a First-Name Basis with Jan only calling him "Tenner". Though nowadays, it has gained a growing following with some who initially didn't like it admitting that it isn't as bad as they remembered it to be.
  • Downplayed with Jan Tenner: Der neue Superheld. It is also not too well received by those who were fans since the Classic era. Complaints include that it tries to be too much like the Classic series and that the plots are either too complicated or too senseless. Also, a number of people have mentioned that they simply cannot warm up to the new characters. Though considering that it has lasted longer than Die neue Dimension, it is still selling well implying the ones disliking it are in the minority.
• Damsel Scrappy: Many fans, especially the younger ones, disliked Laura in Classic for having a big mouth, always claiming Jan would need her help on a mission and that she can look after herself only to end up a Damsel in Distress. Ironically, the Contested Sequel Die neue Dimension fixes this complaint by giving her considerable skills in hand-to-hand combat resulting in her rarely being in need of saving anymore.
• Fair for Its Day: Zig-zagged. While the portrayal of the native americans in episode 6 of Classic was not uncommon in the 80s when the episode was made, fans weren't happy about it even back then.
• First Installment Wins: While Classic is what most fans think of when they hear "Jan Tenner", Die Neue Dimension and to a lesser extend Der Neue Superheld are considered Contested Sequels.
• Franchise Original Sin: Zig-zagged. One of the problems people had with Die Neue Dimension was that everyone except Laura called Jan simply Tenner. While it is true that Futura never called Jan by his surname in Classic, Mimo did in his first appearance while Forbett did it a lot at the beginning of the series and still did it from time to time throughout the rest of Classic.
• The Scrappy: Initially, Tanja was greatly disliked by the fanbase for getting easily hysterical and because she constantly made goo-goo eyes at Jan. When she was Put on a Bus, fans were not too saddened by it. However...
  • Rescued from the Scrappy Heap: Der Neue Superheld saw her return. Her personality was overhauled into a snarky Action Girl resulting in most people stopping to hate her.
• Unpopular Popular Character:
  • Zweistein, the most recurring Big Bad, is a fan favorite and generally considered the star of any episode he appears in due to his Large Ham, Friendly Enemy-attitude towards the heroes and his competence, being a master of the Batman Gambit.
  • Seytania, while not as popular as Zweistein, is still very beloved by fans due to being a powerful sorceress and a Dark Action Girl.
