• Ensemble Dark Horse: The late Robert Loggia as Private Investigator Sam Ransom. He only has about 10 minutes of screentime, but he's largely considered the most heartfelt and considerate character out of the main players, despite the fact that he's a cynical and stern character who happens to be a potty-mouth. Loggia ended up receiving his first and only Oscar nomination for the role.
• Just Here for Godzilla: As mentioned above, many reviews seem to be of the opinion that the whole movie owes itself to Robert Loggia.
• Retroactive Recognition: That polygraph administrator in one scene has an awfully deep voice… Wait, is that Worf?
• The Un-Twist: The revelation that Jack was repeatedly unfaithful to his wife looks very incriminating. Teddy starts to believe that he's guilty, even as he pleads that his infidelity doesn't make him a killer. After receiving another "He is innocent" note, Teddy resumes her defense and finds evidence pointing to another man. Jack is acquitted… and it turns out he did it after all.
