• Jerkass Woobie: Harold. There's no question that he's a jerk towards his family (although they are also jerks to him in turn), but he at least tries to make them happy, only for his attempts to backfire badly. It culminates with them walking out on him when they find out the lush orange grove they thought he bought is actually barren land with a decripit shack, with Harold's car falling apart from him just sitting on its side to add insult to injury. It's a surprisingly moving scene for a WC Fields picture, and you can't help but feel a little sorry for him.
