- Anvilicious: The world is run by evil capitalists and they’re equally evil lapdog politicians, and they do all manner of evil things to the working classes! Did we mention that they're evil? In fairness, they're not actually any worse than they were in the previous Bas-Lag novels, it's just that here they're the main villains rather than being part of the backdrop, so their evilness is focused on more.
