  • Adaptation Displacement:
    • All but two of his novelsnote  have been adapted into films (several more than once) and the films are generally better-known.
    • His play adaptation of No Time for Sergeants eclipsed the original novel by Mac Hyman. The film is more famous than the play, but since it featured most of the Broadway cast, the film is almost always noted as being an adaptation of the play.
  • It Was His Sled: The Twist Ending for his most famous stories has usually ended up becoming the most well-known part of the plot.
