- Adorkable: Issa is about as awkward as awkward can get, but it's one of her more endearing qualities.
- Base-Breaking Character:
- Lawrence comes off as this due to his issues regarding being a good boyfriend to the women he dates.
- Molly in the fourth season, due to the slow build-up to the big fight with Issa. Some are on her side, while some see her as the problem.
- Ensemble Dark Horse: Tasha the Teller seems to be loved by many fans of the show.
- Female Gaze: This show is not shy about putting man ass or well-built guys without shirts on display. One episode in Season 2 even showed us a selfie of a rather impressive penis.
- Memetic Mutation: "You know what that is? Growth." Explanation
- Never Live It Down: Issa's rap about Molly's "broken pussy", which she'd previously described to her in jest, causes discomfort for both of them.
- Strawman Has a Point: In the episode "Insecure as Fuck," you were supposed to side against Molly when she calls Issa out for making fun of her pain in a freestyle. When Molly rightly points out that Issa only went to the open mic so she can meet up with Daniel, Issa lies and denies this. You're also supposed to side against Molly there too.
- Unintentionally Unsympathetic: Lawrence can come off as unsympathetic, particularly in the scene in which he found out that Issa cheated on him. While Issa cheating on Lawrence was indeed inexcusable, Issa’s motivation to cheat was partially due to Lawrence’s emotional neglect throughout the relationship (it was even discovered that Lawrence didn’t even remember Issa’s birthday). It also helps that Lawrence even goes as far as to treat the other women that he dates badly as well after he breaks up with Issa (with Tasha being a good example).
