• Angst? What Angst?: You'd think X would be a smidgen more concerned about the human race being dead and being awoken 12,000 years after his creation. Granted, he had about five minutes to process this before an Octarian attack, but he doesn't reflect on the subject after. The end of the third arc explains this as him not really wanting to think about it since he's aware he can't do anything about it.
• Awesome Music: The majority of the chapters link to various tracks, both from the original games and fan-remixes.
• Captain Obvious Reveal: Marino being the phantom thief of the fourth arc, considering her game counterpart was one also.
• Heartwarming in Hindsight: Some meta-commentary is about how Inkopolis Plaza is a ghost town compared to the square. With the announcement of the first Splatoon 3 DLC being the ability to revisit Inkopolis Plaza, that means it won't stay that way forever.
• Moment of Awesome:
  • X pulling a Punch Catch on the Octobot King, knocking it back into it with his own punch and following up by kicking the dislodged Octavio hard enough to send him flying back into the cockpit.
  • Orion finishes off a Cohozuna in Salmon Run by wrenching open its jaw and firing a Sting Ray down its gullet.
• Moral Event Horizon: Tartar goes past it when he purees Agents 3 through 8 alive well before X could possibly arrive, making sure they're awake and aware the entire time, then rubbing it in X's face.
