YMMV / Infinite Worlds

Go To

  • Alternative Character Interpretation: Both Homeline and Centrum get this a lot, since they were deliberately written for this purpose and use in the scenarios.
  • Enjoy the Story, Skip the Game: Certain parallels are popular enough for people to ignore entirely the whole multiverse deal and just play games set in that specific world.
  • Play the Game, Skip the Story: Conversely, you are more likely finding a group that plays Infinite Worlds as if it was either the early seasons of Sliders or even Our Time Travel Is Different, rather than following the meta-plot of the setting. And even those who do follow the meta-plot, rarely play as Homeline agents, usually aiming for some independent group from a different parallel or people who aren't in ranks of the Infinity Patrol.
  • Ron the Death Eater: In the book, Homeline has its fair share of questionable decisions and simple mistakes, mixed with clear heroics, helping those in need and generally being a white hat. Ask the average player and you will learn that it's deliberately doing all of its operations with nothing but malice in mind, being less of "oblivious stupid" at times and more of For the Evulz Stupid Evil.
  • They Wasted a Perfectly Good Plot: One of the biggest complains about 4th edition of GURPS in general is the drop of the 3rd edition setting books and Infinite Worlds is usually brought up as the best example of this. The countless settings from it are only vaguelly drafted in few pages or even paragraphs, and never made anything more, despite their innate potential. The small handful of those who are elaborated further are just things already existing in 3rd edition.
