• The Woobie: Indigo causes the death of her entire family and everyone she knows, is cursed to immortality until she kills all the demons, all the while knowing her boyfriend is being tortured essentially in Hell. Her only friend is Grimya; and in book 4, Grimya temporarily turns evil and tries to kill her. Then in book 5, she meets Veness, who looks exactly like Fenran and is madly in love with her. After struggling with guilt, she ends up having an affair with him. And then he dies. Yet despite everything she has been through, she does not give up her quest. And in the end, Fenran resurfaces, now unhinged and embittered; in order to destroy the final demon, Indigo is forced to kill him.
