• Alternative Character Interpretation:
  • Ayawamat. Is he The Woobie who is only looking for friends or is he a Jerk that only seeks to continue making Lei's life miserable.
  • Eien. Is he a Jerk with a Heart of Gold or a Jerkass. Actually, at one point Zelde compares him with the above...
• Ho Yay:
  • Ayawamat's interactions with Lei can be considered the childish actions of a guy who can't spit it out. In book two, Iah questions Ayawamat about it. His response is that he doesn't want to focus on love.
  • From the spin off you got Alex and Elliot, Adela's older brother. Elliot is extremely overprotective of Alex that at one point he nearly kills a guy after he hurt him. Even the main character, Olivia, wonders if there is a thing between the two. It doesn't help that Alex's first crush was Elliot. Though Elliot was dressed as a girl due to his clan's customs. It's confirmed later on that Elliot seems to harbor some sort of feelings for Alex which go beyond what one should expect from a friend.
• Launcher of a Thousand Ships:
  • Lei. Fans have paired him up with Nyima, Adela, Ayawamat, Wanikiya, and even his triplet brother and sister...
  • Nyima herself is one. She can be paired up with Lei, Iah, Yuuta, and Ayawamat.
  • Nuk/ Kun. The guy has been shipped with with as many if not more than Lei, thus far those ships consist of; Nahimana, Sarah, Yen, Lei, Hikaru, and Tahoma.
