  • Catharsis Factor: With all of the death and destruction Goku Black has caused in multiple timelines throughout his arc, such as killing Future Gohan in What-If #7 and convincing Baby Vegeta to kill GT Goku in What-If #9, it's incredibly satisfying to see him be beaten by Beerus, suffer a Villainous Breakdown as he desperately tries to escape, and then get erased from existence in What-If #19.
  • Complete Monster: The Goku Black Saga: Zamasu, aka Goku Black, proves himself to be just as monstrous as he is in canon. First killing Gowasu and stealing Goku's body as in canon, Zamasu uses the Time Ring he stole from his dead mentor to create a new timeline by going back in time and murdering murdering Trunks before Future Gohan's death and Trunks's time traveling. Sometime later, Zamasu fought Future Gohan, destroying a continent in the process of killing him to get stronger before returning to the main timeline, to resume his Zero Mortals Plan. After Future Zamasu is sealed by the Mabufa, Zamasu, as Goku Black, flees to another timeline where Vegeta became a Super Saiyan God first, fighting him in order to master Goku's body, and destroying a city in doing so. Afterwards, Zamasu travels to a version of the Dragon Ball GT timeline and teams up with Baby Vegeta to start a new plan. After fusing with him to kill Broly, the newly formed Baby Vegito Black is confronted by Lord Beerus. After the tide turns against Baby Vegito Black, including Baby himself exiting the fusion to try and possess Beerus only to be destroyed, Zamasu attempts to use the Dragon Balls to flee, only to unfuse with the GT Vegeta, and is finally Hakai'd by Beerus.
  • Fandom Rivalry: A small one tends to occur with the DEATH BATTLE! fandom, mainly due to overlapping episode matchups such as Goku VS Superman and Gogeta VS Vegito, with fans debating which channel did the fight better or who got the result right.
  • Friendly Fandoms: Though at the same time, the Hyourinjutsu fanbase and the DEATH BATTLE! fanbase tend to get along pretty well due to both channels having a similar concept of animated what-if fights, with the Dragon Ball fans of both fanbases in particular usually finding enjoyment from both series.
  • Growing the Beard: What-If #9 and #10, Super Sayian 4 Broly VS Goku Black & Baby Vegeta and Super Goku VS GT Goku respectively, both serve as major breakthroughs for Hyourinjutsu's work, being the most watched videos of his alongside the Pilot Episode What-If, Superman VS Goku. With vast improvements such as more dynamic battles, more articulate fights and choreography, better animation effects, and more effective storytelling, it's no wonder it was only up from there for the animation and fight quality.
  • Hilarious in Hindsight: In What-If #13, which was released in 2019, Frieza reveals to Goku he has a form beyond Golden Frieza, which is a version of Cooler's form from Cooler's movie but colored gold. In the Dragon Ball Super manga, three years later in 2022, Frieza was given a canon form beyond Golden Frieza, though this one was called Black Frieza and, beyond an enormous power boost, simply changed his coloring from gold to, well, black.
  • Visual Effects of Awesome: Yes. Hyourinjutsu's work is often cited as masterpieces among the Dragon Ball community in terms of fan-works, making brilliant uses of sprites to create all sorts of unique fights. And the animation effort only gets better as time goes on, as custom assets and close-ups are added along with numerous improvements to the visual and ki-effects.
  • The Woobie: Giru in What-If #19 ends up going through the wringer. Waking up to the orders of Baby Vegito Black, the poor guy is forced to gather the Dragon Balls under the threat of Baby Vegito Black killing the rest of his friends with the GT Goku of his timeline already having been killed. The last thing he sees before he heads out for his quest is a destroyed picture of all of his friends, and Giru ultimately ends up destroyed by Beerus in order to keep him from gathering the Dragon Balls.
