• Broken Base: Superman fans are split over this story: Detractors claim Superman meeting his archenemy in Smallville is awfully convenient and makes the world smaller, whereas supporters like Kurt Busiek retort Luthor's downfall being indirectly Superman's fault provides greater dramatic potential. Supporters will also point out this story was written by the man who created both characters, which grants it a bit of extra legitimacy.
• Common Knowledge: Pre-Crisis Lex Luthor wanted to kill Superboy because he made him go bald— except that it is explicitly said Luthor held a grudge against Superboy for other reasons, and his baldness was merely an insult added to the perceived injury.
