• Growing the Beard: Widely agreed to be not only the point where everything finally snapped into place for the series — the rest of the first season having suffered from inconsistent characterization, the unpopular Vogler arc, and a Romantic Plot Tumor between House and Cameron — but arguably even the single best episode of the entire series, with the only competition coming from "Broken" and the "House's Head"/"Wilson's Heart" two-parter.
• Moment of Awesome: House starts out giving the lecture to about 20 med students. The lecture ends with the auditorium completely full with other students and colleagues, including his team, Wilson, and Cuddy.
  • House diagnoses the absent professor without even meeting him, by tasting the lead paint in the mug his children made for him.
