- Alternative Character Interpretation: Rhaenyra's offer to betroth Jace to Helaena. A genuine attempt at reconciliation between her family and Alicent's, or as Alicent believes, a desperate attempt to shore up political clout now that her sons' legitimacy is increasingly being questioned? As this video points out, Rhaenyra's offer is a one-sided deal and Alicent's family has nothing to gain from it. At best, marrying Helaena will simply bolster Jace's legitimacy and Rhaenyra's by extension. At worst, she will be a political hostage should Alicent and the rest of her family oppose Rhaenyra's claim to the Iron Throne.
- Fan-Preferred Cut Content: Many fans object to the omission of Daemon hugging his daughters in consolation, insisting that this scene shows a much more sympathetic sensitivity of his character.
- Moral Event Horizon: Without a shred of remorse, Larys Strong has his own father and brother burned alive.
- Shipping Goggles: Alicent/Criston shippers have the Fandom-Specific Plot of an After-Action Patch-Up with Alicent playing nurse after Criston gets beat up on her behalf.
