YMMV / House of Frankenstein

Go To

  • Alternate Character Interpretation: A fairly literal example. Is the Dracula in this film the one from the 1931 film, or the one from Son of Dracula? Furthermore, it was never stated clearly in the latter film whether that actually was the original Dracula's son, or an alternate-universe Dracula, which just makes the entire matter even more confusing.
  • Funny Moments: After the Monster tosses Daniel out a window he picks up Dr. Niemann, and seems to almost grin in recognition. "Wow, you sure look familiar."
  • Fridge Horror: Professor Niemann plans to put the Monster's brain in Larry Talbot's body, which as of The Ghost of Frankenstein is Ygor's brain.
  • Jerkass Woobie: Poor Daniel. He's a strangling murderer, but in the end he's been betrayed by everyone he helped. And typically for very shallow or selfish reasons.
  • Narm: While Carradine's dialogue as Dracula is good, his attempt on a hypnotic gaze looks silly. Moreover, when his character's carriage crashes, he can be clearly seen with half of his fake moustache missing.
  • Too Bleak, Stopped Caring: The characters aren't very likeable (with the possible exception of Daniel), the story is rather cynical, and in the end, everybody dies.
