• Adaptation Displacement:
  • An odd case in that the film has been displaced by... a Fan Vid. There is very popular video set to "King" by Lauren Aquilina. Many people have seen the video but not the film.
  • The film is more well-known than the original manga.
• Tear Jerker:
  • Gin's backstory. He was left in the forest when he was a baby and was helped out by the spirits of the forest. They gave him his mask and took care of him ever since. He was placed under a spell, which allowed him to live not as a human, but as a spirit.
  • Gin disappearing. In his last moments, he asks Hotaru to hug him and declares his love for her. All poor Hotaru is left with is his mask and his clothes.
• The Woobie: Hotaru after Gin dies, and Ritsu from Deepening the Scar.
