YMMV / Homicide Hunter

Go To

  • Heartwarming Moments: An episode featuring the kidnapping of a newborn has the detectives finding the child safe and sound (she'd been kidnapped by a woman trying to pull The Baby Trap on her husband) and being able to return her to her mother. Kenda cracks a rarely seen smile as he wraps up his recollection of the events:
"Homicide cannot be undone. The person has died. They're not returning because they cannot. We were able to provide Cora with actual closure. Physical closure. What a rare moment. Closure doesn't exist in my world. One time, and one time only... it did."
    • One episode focused on his relationship with his wife and how much he loved and respected her. He smiled twice then.
  • Moment of Awesome: Kenda's quite proud of the fact that he never fired his weapon in his 20-something years as a cop.
"If you pull that trigger, you become like them. And I'm not like them."
  • Tear Jerker:
    • Kenda's gotten visibly choked up recalling some cases, even needing to take a moment to compose himself. One such case involved a murder of an elderly man and an assault on his wife. The wife's injuries were extensive, and she required hospitalization. Kenda had the task of visiting her to get more details. During one point, she asks about her husband, Sam, while recovering in the hospital bed. Recounting what he responded with, Kenda has one of these moments, and gets visibly upset on camera.
"I told her... 'We'll find who hurt your Sam.'"
    • Another episode turned out to not have had any deliberate murder; a family died of carbon monoxide poisoning due to their well-intentioned landlord screwing up the installation of their air conditioner. The landlord in question is informed of this, and he was found dead in his garage the following day.
    • The main page mentions a case that became personal for him as the victim was the owner of a bar he and his wife hung out at. Not only did he get to investigate, he got to call his wife and tell her who it was. Years later, he was still affected by it.
