- Alternative Character Interpretation: Christopher Columbus in this video. Many have interpreted his proposal ("if the world is round, let's go this way [west] to india.") as the Dated History interpretation that he was the one proposing that the world was round. However, the phrasing actually used in the video is fairly vague, and could be interpreted as presenting "the world is round" as an already-known fact (as it indeed was at the time), with the proposal coming off more like "Hey, the world's round, right? Well, we can use that fact! Let's just go the other way!"note
- Alternative Joke Interpretation: "You could make a religion out of this!" is repeated several times throughout the video when discussing the establishment of major religions. Eventually, when the French Revolution degenerates into an orgy of beheadings, it gets interrupted with "no don't". Is this a statement discouraging creating religions centered around violence and death, or a reference to how the revolutionaries' attempts at establishing the Cult of Reason and later the Cult of the Supreme Being as national religions didn't really go anywhere?
- Broken Base: The line "let's rape africa" spawned one, at least for the duration of its popularity: is it properly discussing the horrors of colonization, or is it an unnecessarily cruel "joke" in a mostly lighthearted video?
- Crosses the Line Twice:
- "Aw fuck, now everything's dead."
- "I know! Let's rape Africa!", said with the same enthusiasm as going out for a leisurely game of softball.
- "Germany's back, featuring Hitler the angry mustache model! And he's mad at the Jews for existing!"
- The entire Pacific Showdown bit, with the U.S. nuking Japan being treated like a video game, complete with "FINISH HIM!", especially when contrasted with the more serious way the bombings where shown in history of japan.
- "The United States finally decided whether racism is good or bad. They've decided it's bad, and the world agrees. South Africa might need another minute to think about it."
- Fountain of Memes: Just like its older brother, pretty much every line has been quoted out of context at some point, especially the jingles.
