• Ensemble Dark Horse: Plucka Duck, Dickie Knee, Ossie Q. Ostrich. The show had a lot of memorable characters.
• Fair for Its Day: The infamous Blackface performance had originally been done during the show's original run. The performers, called the Jackson Jive, were in Med School at the time and returned for the reunion special full-fledged doctors. The performer who played Michael even painted his own face white. This also falls under Values Dissonance (it was American guest Harry Connick Jr who took offence).
• Overshadowed by Controversy: Despite Daryl Somers apologising following the commercial break, the blackface skit unfortunately brought a lot of negative press to the show despite the strong social media campaign to bring it back in the first place. The controversy hung over the show, giving the Nine Network little reason to allow it to continue.
• Retroactive Recognition:
  • Comedy acts Sammy J, The Umbilical Brothers, Tripod and Scared Weird Little Guys all got their start on Hey Hey It's Saturday, either as an act or as part of Red Faces.
  • Some older fans may also have recognised Red Symons as being one of the members of the band Skyhooks.
