• Memetic Mutation: References to Butters from South Park announcing that he plays Hello Kitty Island Adventure happened pretty much as soon as the title of this game was announced.
• Sweet Dreams Fuel: It's an Animal Crossing-esque game where you restore a resort back to its former glory by helping the ''Sanrio'' characters. It would be difficult to not consider the game this.
• Unexpected Character:
  • Pretty much no one expected Retsuko from Aggretsuko to make an appearance among the main cast of Sanrio characters in the game.
  • Big Challenges, who appears as an unlockable character that can only be obtained after completing the main story quests. No one expected this obscure Sanrio character - who they never actually did anything with - to appear in the game at all, let alone for it to be unlocked in this way. In fact, technically, the entire goal of the game is to find him.
