• Continuity Lock-Out: Much of the characters and events referenced are done so in a pretty off-hand manner, assuming that viewers will have seen the previous films to fill in the gaps and understand the significance of what's being presented.
• Win Back the Crowd: After the fairly unenthusiastic response to the previous two films, this entry has received some of the highest praise of the series yet, with critics responding well to the film's more back-to-basics approach, and managing to expand on the series lore without sacrificing the simple haunted house formula that made the first film work.
