- Awesome Music:
- "Time For L-Gaim" is a beautiful synth-pop theme that just screams 80s, but in a really good way. L-GAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAIM!
- "Kaze no No Reply", the second opening theme, ain't half bad either. Say Mark-2! It helps that it's sung by Mami Ayukawa, who's also known for Z Toki wo Koete and Yume Iro Chaser.
- Complete Monster: Emperor Oldna Poseidal built the forces of the Poseidal Empire until he launched a brutal campaign of conquest and extermination to enslave or destroy all in his path. Exterminating his old enemies, the Yaman Clan, save for a few members, Poseidal sets up a brutal dictatorship, using his former lover as a fake Poseidal by brainwashing her and having her commit atrocities in his name, with torture, murder and extermination being commonplace. He then took the name of Arms Dealer Amandara Kamandara and began to supply weapons to both sides to keep the conflict going, making it even bloodier, so he can remain in power. When he reveals himself at the end, Poseidal gleefully attempts to annihilate all rebel forces, uncaring that this will kill many of his own soldiers as well.
- Fan Nickname:
- Due to its resemblance to L-Gaim, a white Gundam from Mamoru Nagano's Newtype Magazine MSV series is nicknamed Heavy Metal L-Gundam.
- Fans often refer to Poseidal's Ace Custom as "Original Auge" to distinguish from Nei's machine.
- Usually, different romanizations are used to differentiate machines from this series with their counterparts in Five Star Stories. L-Gaim's A-TAUL vs. A-toll from FSS, Bat-Shu the Blue Knight vs. Vatshu the Black Knight, etc.
- Fashion-Victim Villain: Emperor Poseidal. It takes a special kind of person to wear curtain-rods as epaulets.
- Hilarious in Hindsight: This wouldn't be the last time Hōchū Ōtsuka would be involved with a series with "Gaim" in it's title.
- Spiritual Adaptation: The Five Star Stories is essentially a comic prequelnote to L-Gaim.
