YMMV / Heart&Slash

Go To

  • Awesome Music: the game has only a few music tracks, but at least they are high quality.
    • The Main Theme: a very upbeat and cheerful music that you won't get it out of you head easily.
    • "I ♥ You", the sountrack for the laboratory, is another very cheerful and energetic music that contrasts a lot with the environment, but it's also a signal that the game is not to be taken seriously. This track also has a disco remix that plays every time you launch the Disco Ball.
    • "Battle With Heart!" is a theme used for arenas (rooms that lock the player inside until wins) and sports a more serious tone, giving a sense of danger to the player and that he must come out of there alive.
    • "Heart V.S. Slash!", is SLASH's main theme, playing every time you encounter it. It focuses on the electric guitar, that suits rather well for the spiked robot.
    • "Heart V.S. the B-DSS KNIGHT!", the B-DSS KNIGHT boss theme. An electronic piece with a good build-up followed by an energy-oozing composition that really pumps you up for the boss battle.
    • "Abandoned Robot FRANK-Y" starts like a rather dark theme, fitting with the atmosphere of the boss arena, that gives suspense to the player until the boss appears. At that point, the music has a rather more desperate tone, probably referencing that FRANK-Y (according to the infos written in the "Enemies" category in the main menu) is desperately looking for someone to love it (whether that's ironic or not, it's up to speculation).
    • "Heart Attack!" is a very fast paced music that plays in the sewers, sounding like the player is running away from something, but in a somewhat comedic way.
    • "City Street Funk" the theme that plays in the city. A rather tranquil and funky theme that makes the player want to explore the place;
    • "Heart V.S. the Giant Sewer Monster", Herbie's boss theme, gives a feeling of an unequal fight against a foe you can't even touch and that's gonna require wits rather than brute force.
    • "Heart of a Valkyrie", Lt. Copgore boss theme. An electronic rendition of the Ride of the Valkyries as intro followed by a music that makes the battle more exciting.
    • "Heart's Final Challenge" and "Face the Final Battle!", the tracks for the first part and second part of the final stage, respectively. Two increasingly epic and suspenseful tunes that give a rather impressive feeling to be closer and closer to the final objective.
    • "Love and Destruction", the final boss theme, is a darker rendition of "I ♥ You" combining electronic music and a chorus to highlight the epicness of the battle and how the boss is much bigger than you.
    • The end credits theme is a different rendition of the main theme made to sound much more triumphant and to higlight even more the lenghth of your journey.
  • Demonic Spiders: Wormbots equipped with the Drill or Tailsword. They spend most of their time underground and you have to wait that EXACT moment they emerge from the ground for a fraction of second before they attack, or they'll hit you and go back underground. You better practice your timing or you're going to lose a lot of health with them.
  • Fridge Horror: In the Bad Ending, after QuAsSy disassembled HEART to turn it into one of it's elite robots, you'll notice that there HUNDREDS of them. Just... how long has this gone on? Also, these are supposed to be the best of the best; What's gonna happen when they "wake up"?
  • Goddamned Bats: Every enemy equipped with water weapons: they deal no damage but knock you back. The game even lampshades this with the C.O.P. Flybot Water Cannon equipment description stating that "Flies are less annoying."
  • Self-Imposed Challenge: Naturally, taking only equipment that lowers your defense and/or damage is one way to give yourself a challenge. However, if you play as the Robnin, you're stuck with only three elemental katanas and you can't have other body parts, this means you can only have so much damage, health and defense. Needless to say, you want to play as this character only if you're looking for a bit more challenge.
