YMMV / Harvest Moon: Hero of Leaf Valley

• Fanon: The Player Character's name was decided by the fandom to either be "Jack" (the default Harvest Moon fan-name for the brown-hair, blue baseball cap and overalls hero) or "Tony". He also gets called "Toy" due to the word on his hat.
• Ho Yay: All of the humans on the cover art behind the protagonist are the bachelorettes... plus Joe and Kurt.
• Older Than They Think: A similar plotline was already used in Harvest Moon GBC 2, 2 years before Save The Homeland and 8 years before Leaf Valley.
• Rescued from the Scrappy Heap: Save the Homeland is one of the most contentious entries in the franchise, but Hero of Leaf Valley improves on almost every element that fans disliked about the original.
• Scrappy Mechanic: While most of the mechanics of the game work nicely for a PSP game, taking care of animals is needlessly difficult due to poor hitboxing and the game's tendency to prioritize objects strangely. You can't walk through or around animals easily to feed them, the command for brushing and milking livestock requires you and the animal to be facing the right directions to work, you can bump into an animal's hitbox from across the room if you or they are angled just right, the game will choose to pick up a chicken instead of an egg if the chicken so much as wanders near you, and you can just as easily walk out the door as pick either of them up.
