YMMV / Harsh Realm

Go To

  • Harsher in Hindsight: What kicks off the post-apocalyptic turn in Harsh Realm is a terrorist attack in New York City.
  • Hilarious in Hindsight: Given that he operates it a very video-game like reality, it only seems fitting Santiago pulls off his assassination mission in "Cincinatti" by changing his face, infiltrating the enemy and killing people with a knife. Seven years before the release of Team Fortress 2.
  • They Wasted a Perfectly Good Character: Escalante, an inside man in Santiago's army (played by a young Raymond Cruz, no less). Introduced in "Manus Domini" then unceremoniously killed off in the very next episode.
  • Viewers Are Morons: Apparently viewers needed a subtitle on-screen to tell them when a scene is taking place in Harsh Realm as opposed to the real world, despite the obvious signifiers (Harsh Realm being post-apocalyptic, the real world not. Thomas conscious in Harsh Realm, Sophie alive in the real world.)
