• Alternative Character Interpretation: Textually, "Carolina" is about an encounter with a Manic Pixie Dream Girl. However, some believe the song is a metaphor for cocaine, in reference to the Johnny Cash song "Cocaine Carolina". While the first verse is clearly meant to make you think of a specific girl, the second does perhaps suggest there's a Double Meaning.

• Hilarious in Hindsight: Remember that whole brouhaha about 1D ripping off "Baba O'Riley"? "Sign Of The Times" stunned everyone by taking influence from David Bowie and Prince. • LGBT Fanbase: Oh, yes. Harry has had a following of gay men since One Direction, which probably isn't too surprising, and has recently attracted one of lesbians, as well. His sense of style and his support of gay rights probably helps, and he's embraced his LGBT fanbase.
• Narm: The intro to "Woman", is a rather awkward start to an otherwise good song.
• Spiritual Successor: To George Michael. Both of them rose to fame in teenybopper boy bands, but their sound became a whole lot more creative- and mature- when they went solo.
• Tear Jerker:
  • "Sign of the Times", all the way. From the very somber tone and semi-hopeful You Are Not Alone lyrics of a dying mother to her newborn child is incredibly moving.

  • "Falling", which is about the singer breaking up with someone and fearing they will forget him.
