• Hilarious in Hindsight
  • In an episode of the first season, Tommy is disguised as a nerd and holding a copy of War and Peace. The following year, James Norton would play Andrei Bolkonsky in a major BBC adaptation of the novel.
  • When you find out that Sgt. Cawood thinks of the Halifax Mafia as the local version of The Sopranos, Ashley's wife's "Carmella Soprano"-wannabe look from Series 1 comes into sharper focus.
• Jerkass Woobie:
  • Kevin helps engineer the kidnapping of his boss's daughter, but did it to better provide for his children and put them through education.
  • Lewis is a criminal who helps kidnap Ann, however he is horrified when he finds out Tommy raped her and is clearly unhappy working with them. Tommy ends up murdering him so he doesn't break their cover.
• Nightmare Fuel:
  • Ann Gallagher's kidnapping.
  • The scenes where Catherine hallucinates the body of her daughter after they were Driven to Suicide are very disturbing.
  • Although she does not deserve what happens to her, Vicky's M.O is pretty horrifying. Drugging men who end their affairs with her and filming them in compromising positions, then using those images to blackmail them for money.
