YMMV / Hanzo the Razor

Go To

  • Audience-Alienating Premise: The movies are about a detective who rapes women to get information and is supposed to be the good guy. This alone destroyed any chance of the movies garnering any success in the west or even in the decades since its creation, especially with the proliferation of the #MeToo movement.
  • Awesome Music: The score by Isao Tomita is straight out of the book of Isaac Hayes.
  • Designated Hero: Hanzo. Sure, he is very compassionate towards children and those weaker than him, but he rapes people.
  • Too Bleak, Stopped Caring: The main character rapes people for information, making him just as bad, if not worse, than the criminals he puts away by default. This ultimately results in there being nobody to root for and no reason to care about what happens.
  • Watch It for the Meme: Aside from the interrogation rapings, the first movie is also known for having a training montage where Hanzo beats his giant dick with a stick and has sex with a bag of rice.
