YMMV / Halo: Silentium

Go To

  • Funny Moments: Given how the Librarian is a Lifeshaper, she has no qualms about describing the passionate lovemaking she had with the Ur-Didact in order to create their children (this was not described within the novel for obvious reasons), something which embarrasses the Catalog interviewing her.
"As any warrior will tell you, gravity is a [untranslatable sacrilegious obscenity]."
    "We're ruled by idiots."
    • Humans get Bornstellar and some Lifeworkers to dance with them during a ceremony on the Ark. Also, the Warrior-Servant spitting up his drink.
  • Hilarious in Hindsight: Precursors are hinted to be older than the universe, since they're claimed to have one hundred billion years of knowledge. Just after Silentium was released, the age of the universe was discovered to be 80 million years older.
    • Many people hoped that, in the Reclaimer Trilogy, Master Chief would eventually go against some Precursors. As it turns out, he's been fighting them as the Flood all this time...
    • In Bungie’s Marathon Trilogy, the AI Durandal wants to escape the death of the universe to be a god in the next. Turns out, the godlike Precursors predate this universe, implying that whatever they started out as in their own universe pulled off Durandal’s plan.
  • Rescued from the Scrappy Heap: The Didact in Halo 4 was not very popular for being a Generic Doomsday Villain who gripped the Villain Ball with glee. His portrayal here as a Tragic Villain driven mad by the Precursors in their scheme for revenge was much better received.
