• Genius Bonus:
  • The thug with the Dracula mask is dispatched by Sam stabbing him in the heart, much like how Dracula is traditionally staked. As well, the thug in the Wolfman mask outright literally howls with glee at one point.
  • Florence's injury makes a lot more sense when you realize it's meant as "an eye for an eye" (with the other "eye" in this case meant to be Madeleine's death).
• Les Yay:
  • It is very heavily implied that Madeleine and Florence are a couple, as Florence whispers something in Madeleine's ear before the library fight, Florence holds Madeleine as she bleeds to death, and then goes and avenges her by killing Virgil (at the cost of her left eye).
  • One could also read Scarlet and Anna May's relationship the same way - for example, Anna May's reaction to Scarlet's return sounds like a jilted girlfriend lashing out after being ghosted.
• Magnificent Bitch:
  • Samantha "Sam" follows in her mother Scarlet's footsteps and becomes an expert assassin in her own right. Sam shows her skills perfectly while taking out numerous men at one point, overpowering and severely injuring three fellow assassins and then killing them all later on even when a drug causes her arms to be paralyzed and temporarily prevent full use of them. Seeking to protect a young girl named Emily after killing her father, Sam re-teams with Scarlet and others to fight and kill more of the men sent after them, offers herself up instead when Emily's captured and then tracks down and threatens the villainous Nathan and the Firm to force them all to back down or suffer the consequences.
  • Scarlet has been an expert assassin since her daughter Sam was a young girl. After single-handedly shooting a whole group of men dead for threatening Sam, Scarlet leaves her behind for the next 15 years to protect her, but secretly keeps track of Sam in that time. Approached by Sam later on when Sam is protecting the young Emily, Scarlet leads them through a secret passageway, convinces former colleagues and friends Madeleine, Anna May and Florence, to help them fight and kill numerous men who come for them all and then later Scarlet and the others help Sam and Emily escape by threatening and killing all the remaining men.
• Moral Event Horizon: McAlester informing Sam that he will indeed let Emily go free... after he's forced her to watch Sam being tortured to death.
• Narm Charm: The film practically runs on this.
• Watched It for the Representation: The movie sold itself on its mostly-female All-Star Cast and action-filled premise; that it's a very feminist movie makes it stand out even more.
