• Complete Monster: Grogar is an Evil Sorcerer who sacrificed the rest of his race for immortality. Banished to the land of Tambelon by Celestia and Luna, Grogar returns every Hearth's Warming Eve to kill those who lose their faith in the spirit of Hearth's Warming and transform them into his undead minions, along with everyone else who happens to be in the area. In this one, he kills Silver Spoon, Big Mac, Scootaloo, Granny Smith, Marble Pie and finally Applejack after breaking a deal with her, before freezing all of Ponyville and trapping the inhabitants in what is revealed in the short sequel to be a Fate Worse than Death. In the unfinished sequel, Grogar returns and kills more ponies before freezing Trottingham, and it is revealed that he plans to keep gradually freezing towns across Equestria until he has turned the entire land into a frozen wasteland devoid of life, so he can rule over it and keep everyone's souls enslaved forever.
• Nightmare Fuel:
  • Grogar is a living embodiment of this. His appearance is utterly scary and demonic; an enormous, blue ram with glowing red eyes, a fanged mouth that he often curls into a blood-chilling Slasher Smile, and huge curved horns who wears a black cloak. He stalks around, bringing cold and darkness with him, catching ponies from a distance with long chains that have bells that jingle with every move he makes. What does he do with his victims? He transforms them into undead, permanently crying and grinning ghouls that he either forces to join him as his helpers or leaves invisible to suffer for their mistakes.
  • Applejack's demise; Grogar pulls her into his Bag of Kidnapping, causing her to de-age back into a filly.

  • The revelation that Ponyville is destroyed and everyone in it has been taken by Grogar.
