  • Awesome Moments: Basically every time the band manages to turn it around on the Nazis is amazing. Pat's Refuge in Audacity trick, Amber opening Big Justin up with a boxcutter, and Darcy getting his brains blown out probably top the list.
  • Catharsis Factor: After watching the neo-Nazis slaughter an entire punk band, seeing the final survivors turn the table and kill Darcy is incredibly satisfying.
  • Complete Monster: Darcy is the aging leader of a gang of Neo-Nazis, out to cover up his massive drug running business when the Ain't Rights band stumbles into it. Though playing himself off as a reasonable man to try to trick the band into surrendering to him and keep his men in line, Darcy abuses his gang on a whim and actually intends to have the entire band either ripped apart by fighting dogs or butchered with machetes, then frame their deaths as wild animal attacks to cover his tracks. Darcy maims and kills several of the Ain't Rights this way—having one of his own members shot dead when he tries to help the group escape—and later fatally poisons the drug stash of some of his other minions, killing them all as punishment for unintentionally exposing Darcy's heroin trade to the Ain't Rights.
  • Cult Classic: This movie did astoundingly poorly in theaters, but between its massive critical acclaim and its almost immediate Values Resonance, it's picked up a noticeable cult following.
  • Funny Moments:
    • Even in an impressively dark and intense movie such as this, the Brick Joke at the end regarding desert island bands is hilarious.
    • Also, the fact that once the Ain't Rights realize they're in a Nazi bar, they start their set off with 'Nazi Punks Fuck Off' by the Dead Kennedys.
  • Harsher in Hindsight:
    • A summer thriller about violent, murderous Neo-Nazis murdering teenagers became much harder to watch the following year, when actual Neo-Nazis descended on Charlottesville, Virginia, sparking violent clashes with police and protesters that left at least one young woman dead.
    • The film opens with the band having gotten in a car accident, which is incredibly uncomfortable given how Anton Yelchin would die in a similar car accident a year later.
  • Jerkass Woobie: If you listen closely, you can hear Amber give her explanation for why she hangs around neo-Nazis. She heavily impliesnote  that she was raped by men of color at one point. She's also the most violent and ready to kill out of the good guys.
  • Narm: If Patrick Stewart's performance isn't frightening to you, hearing Captain Picard spout racial slurs can be oddly hilarious.
  • Nightmare Fuel:
    • Werm dragging Emily around the floor by the handle of the knife stuck in her head.
    • What happens to Pat's arm.
    • The deaths of Tiger and Sam: being mauled to death by an angry pit bull.
    • Reece's death as well: after leaping headlong out of a window he is stabbed repeatedly by the Nazis, who are then instructed by Darcy to let him slowly bleed to death to simulate a realistic death from wild animal injuries.
    • Amber's killing of Big Justin, if you don't land on the side of finding it awesome.
    • Patrick Stewart's performance as Darcy. Just hearing a voice one would normally associate with grandfatherly wisdom say racial slurs is cringe-inducing.
  • Squick: The violence and gore in the film is extremely realistic: Big Justin and Daniel's deaths stand out, as does Pat's mutilated arm.
  • Tearjerker:
    • The agonised screaming and crying of Pat after his arm is mutilated.
    • After Clark is killed, his injured dog seeks him out and lies down to die next to him.
