- Catharsis Factor: Batman is written with many of his worst "Bat-God" traits, which writers frequently have him cycle back into, amplified. John Stewart calling him out on this nasty attitude and Hal later taking a swing at him for getting in the way are cathartic for a significant percentage of readers who believe many writers depict Batman as a jerkass who always gets away with everything.
- Heartwarming Moments: Hal, when Sinestro is mocking Kyle, declares that Kyle kept the light burning when the Green Lanterns were gone and he deserves respect. And then, when he finally meets Kyle, Hal shakes his hand with a smile on his face. After that scene, Hal proceeds to give Kyle a You Are Better Than You Think You Are speech that additionally serves the meta purpose of solidifying Kyle's importance in the Green Lantern mythos.
- Moment of Awesome: There are many, but a standout is Hal Jordan punching Batman to the ground. Kilowog and Guy Gardner just stand there with eyes and mouths wide open.
- Salvaged Story:
- Hal Jordan completed the shift away from Parallax and was brought back as a Green Lantern, while providing a better, more thorough explanation for his abrupt Face–Heel Turn in Emerald Twilight.
- Guy Gardner loses his Vuldarian abilities and returns to being a Green Lantern, while Kyle Rayner's inferiority complex is laid to rest.
