• Complete Monster: Mr. Mumler Chameleon, from the The Haunted School event, is given a much larger role than his novel counterpart. Mr. Chameleon is a photographer with a massive hatred for children who, in the past, banished the class of Bell Valley to the Grayworld. The trapped children would slowly go insane over decades of isolation unable to age or die, eventually becoming so broken that they would obey Mr. Chameleon's every command. When one of the kids Mr. Chameleon banished, Thalia, escapes, he starts chasing after her. While chasing after her, Mr. Chameleon plans on banishing another class of kids to Grayworld. Mr. Chameleon banishes the entire staff and two other students, planning to use his new position as principal to banish even more kids.
• Heartwarming Moments: While it is mostly played for humor, Mrs. Dark and Ellie's romance in the Valentine's at Poisson Lake is rather nice. As well as the how the following event begins with Curly saying that them finding each other was a silver lining in all the chaos.
  • In the Haunted School event, Dustin is genuinely upset that he won't have the same classes as Lucy.
  • Drool's questline in the Trick or Trap event has him trying to cheer Curly up when he's feeling down, and it's rather wholesome.
• Hilarious in Hindsight: A down on his luck man finds a new lease on life as an evil clown. Are we talking about this game's version of A Nightmare on Clown Street or Joker?
• Memetic Mutation: Dustin's face on the Valentine's at Poison Lake loading screen became a semi-popular reaction image, and eventually the game's facebook page posted a meme out of the image.
• Unexpected Character: The game has included a lot of obscure characters that people wouldn't expect to appear, from Conrad from Beware, the Snowman, to Connor and Mr. Zarwid from Be Afraid-Be Very Afraid!.
• The Woobie: Mayor Johnson is definitely one as of the Phantom of the Auditorium event. Every event she plans turns out terribly, and eventually this lead to her taking a break, which Andy took advantage of. Then when her son Zeke came to town, he vanished soon after. Then when she discovers a genie and wishes she could protect the town better, she gets a robo-walker that she rampages with, causing all kinds of property damage she is then arrested for. Things get worse in the Be Afraid, Be Very Afraid event, where it is revealed that the officer who arrested her was intentionally sabotaging her to become mayor. Even when she entered Mr. Zarwid's game of Be Afraid to become ruler of Horror Town, Slappy won instead.
  • Surprisingly, Curly becomes one in the Trick or Trap event. It is revealed he has three sisters and that he is actually considered to be a pathetic scarier, especially compared to them. He does strike up a friendship with Sonny and eventually gets a leg up on the sisters though.
  • Vanessa from Chicken Chicken of all characters becomes one. She is a fairly nice farm girl who is taken advantage of by Crystal and ordered to make a Thanksgiving meal and she is treated like trash. When she taps into her magic side and curses Crystal, she can't be blamed too hard.
