  • Fridge Brilliance: The land of Mijak must be ruled by a number of Warlords whose armies are locked in a constant struggle, and no single ruler is allowed govern the entire country by ancient law. When Hekat finally unites them all, they operate by brutal efficiency, making one wonder why no one ever united the warhosts before. It's only later that it's revealed that Mijak had tried to conquer the world before, and part of their ancient concessions was that no one ruler could rule over Mijak again to prevent this from happening. The inefficiency was baked into the system from the start.
  • Moral Event Horizon: Hekat gutting her son Zandakar's wife and killing his unborn child, as well as exiling Zandakar for the horrible crime of marrying an outsider.
  • Too Bleak, Stopped Caring: When everyone is literally bathing in blood, it can get this way.
