• Genius Bonus: Clafoutis is infamous in French culinary culture for being an exceptionally easy-to-prepare cake, consisting of batter poured over fruit directly in the mold then baked, and is seen as an elegant way of reusing leftovers. This, along with the fact that clafoutis prepared with fruit other than cherries is properly called a flaugnarde, reinforces Véronique's status as a windbag.
• Signature Scene: As the following examples demonstrate, it's the puking scene.
• Squick: Annette suddenly projectile vomiting all over the coffee table.
• Visual Effects of Awesome: The trick most productions use to have Annette suddenly vomit over the table is particularly ingenious. This effect has been done by running tubes from an offstage "puke tank" into the on-set sofa, which the actress playing Annette then attaches to a tube running up the inside of the sleeve of her costume. When she needs to puke, she palms the end of the tube in one hand and claps her hand to her mouth, then they run the pump and the puke appears to spray out her mouth and between her fingers. The film adaptation essentially reuses this method since it looks so convincing, augmenting it with CGI to make it even more realistic.
