• Base-Breaking Character: Matthew Cook, Kimberly's ex-boyfriend. Some fans see him as a jerk towards Kimberly, especially after being rescued by the Rangers and see him as a Creator's Pet for Ryan Parrott, while others find him an interesting love interest for Kimberly. It also doesn't help that he doesn't interact much with any of her friends despite the fact he knew and was friends with them before he and Kim met and started dating. Him being the new Green Ranger has divided fans even more, with some finding him undeserving and how his plotlines are weak retreads of what Tommy has already gone though, while others find him to be a better choice than Tommy's clone Tom.
• Die for Our Ship: Matt is not well-liked by Tomberly fans, due to him taking a level in being a jerk towards Kimberly, especially after the Rangers rescue him.
• He's Just Hiding: Several fans felt that Adriyel survived being blasted by the Rangers in the conclusion of the colour swap storyline. Just a day after it came out, Ryan Parrott confirmed that they haven't seen the last of her in a tweet and her survival was confirmed in the Necessary Evil run.
