YMMV / Girl Gun Lady

Go To

  • Alternative Character Interpretation:
    • In episode 4, was Matsuko always planning on breaking the truce? Or did she only start shooting people after Delta Tango backstabbed everyone and there was no point in trying to keep the peace?
    • Also from episode 4, did the Delta Tango players betray the other teams on their own? Or were they forced into it by Daisy?
  • Awesome Music: The opening theme is super catchy and melodic.
  • Complete Monster: The unnamed Killer Game Master is the creator of the Girl Gun system and orchestrator behind the Girl Gun Fight. Posing as a shop owner, the game master sells plastic models to schoolgirls to draft them into the Girl Gun Fight, where they are separated into four teams and forced to kill each other. Any schoolgirls who lose all their lives are permanently erased from the real world, with not even their own families remembering them, while the Lady Commanders who lose the game are smashed to pieces. The winning team fares little better, as its players are sacrificed to turn their Lady Commander human in the real world, leaving the Lady Commander as the only survivor. After Alpha Tango wins the game, the owner has the losing Lady Commanders kill off the remaining players before attempting to sacrifice Alice's own team members to turn her into a human, forcing her to go along with the ceremony when she resists.
  • Evil Is Cool: Daisy is the most sadistic and ruthless of the Lady Commanders, but compared to the timid Bianca, hyperactive Charlotte and Nice Girl Alice she's far and away the coolest of them for her cunning and Faux Affably Evil personality.
  • Funny Moments:
  • I Knew It!:
    • Many people predicted Matsuko being a previous participant in the Girl Gun Fight, and the Lady Commander of the orange team seen at the end of episode 6.
    • Several people also guessed the antique shop owner was the one behind the Girl Gun Fight prior to the reveal at the end of episode 9.
  • Magnificent Bitch: Matsuko Kadowaki was once Lady Commander Amatsu, who led her team to victory in the previous Girl Gun Fight and was made human as a result. After her teammates were erased from the real world, Matsuko swore revenge on the GGL's game master and sought to save her team. Reentering the fight as a player for Bravo Tango, Matsuko quickly proves herself far more competent than her Lady Commander, leading her team to the top of the leaderboard through her strategy and combat prowess. After Alpha Tango wins the Girl Gun Fight, Matsuko reveals the truth to Koharu and enlists the help of her and the other surviving players to stop the game master. During the victory ceremony, Matsuko has Alice kill her so she can retrieve the Lady Armor from the real world, enabling Koharu to use it to kill the game master and undo all the changes made by the Girl Gun system. Though this led to her being erased, Matsuko died fully content that her teammates and everyone else would be saved.
  • Moe: Alice and Koharu. Koharu for being a timid Nice Girl and Alice for how compassionate and caring she is to her teammates.
  • Moral Event Horizon:
    • Rei gets hers when she shoots and kills Natsuna in episode 6, even though she knew she was on her last life and doing so would erase her from the real world.
    • Matsuko gets hers in episode 8 when she pulls a Shoot the Hostage on her own teammate, who was on her last life.
  • Paranoia Fuel: The Girl Gun Fight itself. You can be summoned to it any time and have no choice but to fight in it, and dying three times means you'll not only die in the real world, but have all traces of your existence erased, including the memories your friends and family have of you.
  • Shocking Moments: The scene at the end of episode 6 where the girls discover a room with the bodies of the dead players all displayed as trophies.
  • The Woobie:
    • Poor Koharu. Even before she was entered into the Girl Gun Fight, she was already being ostracized and made fun of by the other girls at her school.
    • Fuyumi as well. Not only did she lose her big sister, she doesn't even remember her, but still feels sadness over losing her that she can't place because her memories of her sister are all gone.
    • Matsuko, when one learns that she was the victor of the previous Girl Gun Fight who got to become human, but couldn't enjoy the real world since all of her teammates were Ret Goned from it.
