YMMV / Geronimo Stilton

Go To

  • Adorkable: Van Kraken is kindhearted and a pretty good-looking professor, if a little clumsy and disorganized.
  • Aluminum Christmas Trees: According to Chef Stewrat, his stew has been cooking for 500 years and keeps getting new ingredients added to it. Such a thing is possible, called perpetual stew, although it usually doesn't last that long.
  • Archive Panic: There are 80 entries in the main Geronimo Stilton series and all of those Spin-Off series. If you're going to read all the ones which have been or soon will be released in English (Gasp!) as listed on Wikipedia's Geronimo Stilton article as of August 26, 2021, including the graphic novels, then that would calculate to... 295 books, and a good portion of those, such as the Kingdom of Fantasy series, obviously, is each about triple the size of a normal book.
  • Awesome Art:
    • The later books offer brightly colored and softly shaded art which is appealing, compared to the art of earlier books.
    • The TV series has some rather lush animation that is highly captivating to look at. The backgrounds are a standout.
    • The art from the first four Thea Stilton comic books is very well done, preserving the spirit of the character designs from the first mainline books while giving the girls appropriate fashion upgrades.
  • Catharsis Factor: A big difference between the cartoon and the books is that the characters in the animated series are generally more than willing to call Trap out on his troublemaking antics, whereas he's usually a Karma Houdini in the main books.
  • Cry for the Devil: Vanilla tries her best to impress her mother, but when she fails to live up to Vissia's expectations, she's at her most insecure and vulnerable.
  • Ensemble Dark Horse: Creepella von Cacklefur, who got her own Spin-Off series despite being a minor character.
  • Incest Yay Shipping: Quite a bit of Rule 34 fanart have siblings Geronimo and Thea Stilton be paired up, either because of their dynamic or how close the two are despite butting heads at times thanks to their different lifestyles.
  • Older Than the Demographic: A chapter book series for children of elementary school-age and in full color, which happens to star a grown adult as the protagonist and two others as main characters, though a Tagalong Kid is a main one too. The Thea Stilton stars a main cast only consisting of college students.
  • Periphery Demographic: Some of its fans are composed of furries who are older than the child demographic the series aims towards.
  • Popular with Furries: Do we even have to explain for a series about Funny Animal mice?
  • Self-Fanservice: Thanks to most of its fans being a part of the Anthro Demographic. Many of the female mice (specifically Thea Stilton, Petunia Pretty Paws, Creepella von Cacklefur, and the Thea Sisters.) especially in more adult fanart, are usually depicted as being more drop-dead gorgeous, curvier and more buxom.
  • Squick: Sardinia Squid's mother-in-law to-be is also a distant relative of the Squids, which begs the question of whether everyone permanently residing on Whale Island are related.
  • Sweetness Aversion: The first book contains a line about how the hearts of two mice who love each other will always stay connected. It's as saccharine as you think.
